Review
I enjoyed this novel's combination of mystery, family drama, and historical fiction. The characterizations struck me the most — although Serk, Anne, Louisa, and Tobias all had clear flaws, I still felt drawn into their lives and deeply curious about their relationships to home and each other.
He seemed willing to embrace anything. Was this because he was empty, a ravenous void, or because he was full?
