Book Lovers

This year I want to read more romance novels, and Book Lovers seemed like a good place to start. I liked that it was self-aware about the trope it was subverting, and I enjoyed the dynamic between Nora and Charlie, but I did feel like the narration was jarringly… simple? The characters, especially Nora, didn't feel complex or adult-like, and that made it difficult for me to take any part of the book seriously.
In books and movies, characters like me always live in cement-floored lofts with bleak modern art and four-foot vases filled with like, scraggly black twigs, for some inexplicable reason.
