Review
I really enjoyed this book as a collection of thoughts about games and metrics: what their purposes are, what they enable us to do, and where they fail.
In a game, for once in our lives, we know exactly what we're supposed to be doing, and afterward, we know exactly how well we have done. There are no larger questions about the meaning of our lives, no existential angst about our goals, no ambiguity. We know what we are pursuing in explicit, immaculate, unquestionable detail.
